The HWEA Biosolids & Co-Generation Committee held its 2022 HWEA Bi-Annual Biosolids & Co-Generation Workshop for 120 attendees.
The workshop is typically held every even numbered year, but the previous 2020 workshop was cancelled due to the pandemic. The workshop helps us remember that - wastewater has potential to be a resource - such as beneficial reuse of biosolids and renewable energy associated with digester gas applications.
The conference provided an avenue for exchange of current information in the field, networking and exhibitor displays. A Pre-Conference field trip was held the day before the Conference at the City and County of Honolulu’s H-POWER facility. Attendees learned more about where the City’s municipal solid waste, including biosolids, are sent for renewable energy generation. The conference on September 21, 2022 was held at Koolau Ballroom. It featured a full day of technical presentations and networking breaks. Everyone enthusiastically greeted each other in-person after a couple years of virtual meetings.
